News - Launch of the 2009/10 PAL Competition - The Pantomime Alliance of Leicestershire (PAL) Committee is launching its 9th  competition to find Leicestershire's (including Leicester and Rutland) Pantomime of the Year. Entry forms will be going out soon, so please get your details in as soon as possible and join the fun. There will be the usual categories so there is a chance for someone in YOUR Group to win a prestigious award! The 9th  'Salute to Pantomime' awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 27th March 2010 at the Winstanley Community College, Braunstone Town. See information on the 9th Salute page and an entry form by going to the Entry Form page. All entries to the competition will be listed on that page, with dates and how to get tickets etc. This season the Committee has a representation from a much wider range of Groups. This is the site for Amateur Pantomime Groups wherever they may be. It is intended to be the premier site for amateur pantomimers world-wide, though pantomime being what it is, it is likely to be predominantly British, to start with at least. We would love to hear from pantomime groups in other countries and we will list you on the site as you come forward.
The Pantomime Alliance (TPA for short) brings together amateur groups which perform pantomime, with the objective of promoting and encouraging amateur pantomime in the UK (and beyond if there is a need). Any group can join the Alliance. TPA hosts this site and your group can be featured here, especially if you have a web site of your own which can have a link. Send us information about your Group for the Groups page and details of your up-coming performance for the This Season page.

The Pantomime Alliance of Leicestershire
The origin of TPA was The Pantomime Alliance of Leicestershire  (PAL) which was formed to celebrate and promote pantomime amongst amateur groups in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. PAL organised a 'Celebration of Pantomime' event at the Century Theatre at the Snibston Discovery Park, Coalville, Leicestershire in April 2002 when six groups took part.
PAL has run 8 competitions since 2002 and is now embarked on the 9th.

8th 'Salute to Pantomime' Competition - 2008-2009

The 8th 'Salute to Pantomime' Competition ran through the 2008 - 09 season. The 'Blue Balloon' trophy was awarded to the pantomime of the year and there will be other categories in the competition as in previous years. The 'Salute to Pantomime' awards were presented at the Winstanley Community College, Bruanstone Town, Leicestershire, on Saturday 28th March 2009.  See the Salute 8 page for the the results

Amateur pantomime groups across the Country are listed on the Groups pages. If you would like your group to be included please contact david.pollard@virgin.net  If your group has a web site please think about adding a link to this site from your own. The more people who learn about pantomime the better. If your Group is interested in organising a pantomime competition PAL will be pleased to give you all the assistance it can. Contact david.pollard@virgin.net for information. It would be very exciting if we could raise the 'Salute to Pantomime' competition and event to a national level.

This Season
Every pantomime season we will try to put up a list of performances. If you provide us with details of the dates, times venues, title of your pantomime and who to contact for tickets then we will include them. Many amateur pantomimes are generally sold out, but people around the country may want to know what you are up to this year. Contact again is david.pollard@virgin.net
